Overview of development status
Prefabricated cabin-type combined equipment was studied and applied abroad at an early time. In the mid-1980s, it was applied to the overall modular 33kV substation in the United States; in the 1990s, the overall modular 66kV substation in Japan also applied prefabricated equipment cabins. The container-type electrical hut launched by ABB has been widely used in the Middle East countries.
In China, 35kV and 10kV box-type substations have been widely used in projects, and containerized SVG equipment, containerized DC ice melting equipment, and containerized photovoltaic inverters are also widely used.
In 2013, State Grid Corporation of China launched the construction of a new generation of intelligent substation demonstration project, and proposed the construction principles of "standardized design, factory processing, modular construction, and mechanized construction".
According to this principle, in the new generation of smart substations, there are almost no buildings, instead there are prefabricated cabin-type combined equipment.
In the State Grid Corporation's new generation of intelligent substation demonstration project, Chongqing Dashi 220kV substation and Hubei Future City 110kV substation are AIS substations, both of which use prefabricated cabin-type combined equipment.

Selection principles
